The SSP 10th Anniversary Celebration in New York

On 20 September, Student Sponsorship Programme, Inc.celebrated a decade of success with fun, music, and style in the iconic Desmond Tutu Center in Manhattan. The event was an opportunity to mark a milestone – ten years of developing leaders for South Africa.

The event was also an opportunity to honour founding trustees, Nyagaka Ongeri and Teresa Clarke, and the sponsor of the event, Barclays Capital. More than 200 people gathered for the launch of the Student Sponsorship Programme video and to listen to three of the five Nelson Mandela Scholars, SSP alumni who are now studying at Amherst College, speak. The Scholars, Falone Minga, Thebe Tsatsimpe, and Dexter Padayachee, were eloquent and passionate about the honorees and about Student Sponsorship Programme. The Honorable Fikile Magubane, Consul General for South Africa, also addressed the crowd. It was a superb event which moved the crowd to support the work of Student Sponsorship Programme.
